Dr. Philip Smith

Philip is a Georgia native and a former full time musician. In 2007, he met his wife Becca in Memphis while traveling and playing drums. In 2009, they were married and moved to Raleigh for Philip to pursue his Masters of Divinity at Southeastern Seminary, where he went on to complete his Ph.D. in Theology as well. Prior to planting Redeemer City Church, Philip served as one of the associate and discipleship pastors and elders at the Summit Church in Raleigh-Durham, NC, for over 10 years. It was here that the Smiths were discipled and developed to plant Redeemer City in 2022. Philip is an avid coffee drinker, loves books, college football (Go Dawgs!), and being a dad to his four beautiful (and very energetic) children, Elliot, Asher, Tessa, and Milly. He is excited to watch God continue to move and grow the people of Redeemer City, aiming to help people in Greenville find and follow Jesus, bringing redemption to our city and to the nations.
